Big city time!

Here are some pics of my area, big city time!

This Saturday, a wonderful Family of 8, the Family Miroslava, was baptized. But I´d like to share their personal story with everyone. When the Elders from Area las Americas first found this family they were awesome, animated, and very prepared to accept the Gospel. But as they came close to their baptismal dates, there always seemed to be someone working against them. Right before their first baptismal date. The Grandmother in the family passed away. And so the baptism was pushed back a week. The Monday of the week of their baptism date, the Elders had taught a lesson about enduring to the end, and taught them that Satan would try anything to keep them from being baptized, and two days before their baptism The elders got a call that the family had just been kicked out of their house, and they had no money! Was this going to stop their baptism?? They lived in the Elders garage for a day and night, and after a very spiritual visit by the elders they all made a plan to find the money to be able to pay their rent, and be baptized the next day. I remember myself praying for this family personally. Then the next day on Saturday, the family was able to find the money they needed, and after 2 weddings, all eight of the family were baptized. If we strive to do right, we can truly defeat and smash all of Satan´s tactics. This family is really special, the next day in church after being confirmed. One of the young muchachas who had just been married the day of her baptism started to go into labor!!! Ha-ha, I just remember seeing Elder Baadsgaard running down the hall yelling, She´s gonna have a baby! ha-ha, what a crazy week for this family… marriage, baptism, confirmation, and babies;)

Elder Maldonado got emergency changes, and right as we started really getting along and having a lot of success as a trio. It was definitely a surprise to see him go. He is from Honduras, but his parents live in Texas, but it was kind of sad, because he tried and tried to call his parents for mother’s day, but could never get a hold of them. So he only got to talk to his sister. But anyways,  I had this feeling the other day that you guys could maybe help the guy out. I really don’t need any packages, I love letters with pics more than candy, ha-ha, plus, I basically live in the United States of Quetzaltenango. But maybe one week you could send Elder Maldonado a small package with lots of motivating stuff, and a few treats, he speaks a little bit of English, so you could write him something if you wanted, Thanks!

Elder Browning, the best comp. I have had the entire mission.

One of the members has a sweet guitar!

yo y Maldonado, en nuestra área.

He got emergency changes, and got sent to Quiche! He is in one of the areas most far away now!      ¡¡Adios Maldonado!!

Pics from the Ward Talent Night.

This last week I told you about how we performed in the ward talent night, ha-ha. It was super funny, I played the guitar, but I was reading notes out of a pocket hymn book, and the book fell during the performance. So I stopped awkwardly and did some super improv solo, while my comps tried to fix the hymn book. They also sang backup, and sang like an American Idol Audition, ha-ha, but In the end it ended up sounding mas o menos really good.

In the talent night this family band played, and I just thought the girl in the back playing the bongos was hilarious. She sat there bongoing and swaying her groovy hair back and forth, she looks like one of the drummers you would see on the game guitar hero.

Our bishop sings and dances salsa. He is super funny, can you imagine Bishop Coleman doing this, ha-ha.

Ya, Pres. Bautista passed by to buy our Trio burger king today, that was sweet!

I am surrounded by fast food, and bakeries here in Xela, There is so much food here!!!

Look at the lunches we get served here! This is high quality stuff, oh, and if you haven´t heard, I officially have no problem eating tomatoes, guacamole, or beans.... I have changed, ha-ha.

This week we had a chile eating competition. Me against Hermana Woods. She is one of the Hermanas of whom we share the area with. We ate three chiltepes. And they burn!!! And I ended up losing the competition. We had to see who could wait without drinking juice or eating something else the longest.

Eating lunch at Familia Molinas´ house.
Every time a child of God comes closer to accepting the true restored gospel of Christ, then come Satanás to steal them away and do everything possible to stop them from making covenants by the power of the Holy Priesthood.
