Tuvimos un Bautismal!!!!!!!!!

- Tuvimos un Bautismal!!!!!!!!! Estoy como "Freakin Out" con felicidad -

This Last Friday, Hermana Rosenda was married, and baptized, wahooooo! She was confirmed this Sunday as a member of The True Restored Church of Christ, La Iglesia de JesuCristo de los Santos de los Ultimas Dias.Hermana Rosenda really was a kind of like, enclosed very quiet, kind of no me importa kind of person. But, after her baptism and after she received the gift of the Holy Ghost, she has brightened up, and truly smiles, because she is happy.

Here is the cake we made with a little help from the Corte Sisters from Patalup, and also the family of Rosenda, her dad, her new husband, and her kids. Also Elder Feula made the picture in the background.

We had a really fun acitvity this week with one of our investiators named Abigael. She is 12 years old, the same age as Tanner. She lives with her Grandparents who are members, but she isnt. Her parents are pastors in guatemala city. She loves reading the scriptures, and loves listening to us when we come over. All we can really do, is strengthen her own testimony of the church as much as we can, so that when the time comes, she will be able to testify to her what it is she feels is the Truth. I pray for her a lot.

The fun activity we had with them was- We roasted Marshmellows! It was so much fun, and the Grandparents had never done it before, so they were just in heaven eating those mallows, haha, and they died laughing everytime one caught on fire, and they had to blow it out. It was such a great night, we have built a true friendship with this wonderful family.

Dust and Corn, Dust and Corn, a bit more dust, and ya that should tell you enough about my area, haha, but to me- it´s still Beautiful.

This is the path that leads to Abigael´s house. She lives on the cliff between the to villages, Choqui, and Patalup.

This is Hermana Roselia´s house, she is a less active, and she is the one who owns the pig ;)

Heres My neighbors pig!

It was an exciting weekend for me and my companion as Hermana Rosenda was baptized in Aldea Patalup. The bishop of the Barrio baptized her, and I was so happy for everyone present. After Hermana Rosenda´s baptism, we went over to bishop Julian´s house for a dinner, and a special surprise. We all made a cake for hermana Rosenda, and it turned out amazing!!! I love Patalup, and kinda wish we lived there, but the Elders house in patalup got robbed, so there is nothing in the little house for living. So for now, we do a lot of hiking, and I mean a lot, and I think we walk more than 35 miles a week. I think my little walker counter is saying we walk less, haha, so just to be safe, I´ll say we walk and walk and walk and keep walk and we dont stop. ;)

We found out the other day, that they are putting elders in Pueblo Viejo and that means we only have to cover 2 areas now, that does take a bunch of work out of our load, and this is good, because we can focus more on Patalup, and Choqui.

This whole week, throughout all my study, and all my experiences I have found that it all has been focused on sacrifices, and serving willingly. If we really are willing to serve our Lord with all our heart might mind and strength, then we should be willing to sacrifice whatever it is he asks. This week I have felt so blessed, and I know it’s because I have been focusing on my mission and my investigators. You all know how much I love to play guitar, and when I found out that the elders had one in San bartolo, I guess you can imagine how excited I was to play it every P-day. And the guitar really isn’t bad at all, but I don’t think it’s helping me concentrate on my mission, so I have made a promise with the Lord. That every P-day I will no longer play it, to show that really- I am willing to give my all in this short amount of time that I have here in Guatemala. I don’t want to miss any opportunity to share and lift up the gospel while I´m here. Like I´ve said before- For sacrifices we receive blessings.

I have also been thinking lately, and I think it would be a really awesome time, if you guys did come and get me here, and we could all go visit my old areas, my investigators, and the dear members. It would be so awesome; I wonder if we could all pull it off???? You would just die, if you went to Quilinco! Its soooooo beautiful!!! Who doesn´t want to go to the Shire?! I have heard of families doing this before, and I think we would have to live in various places throughout the whole time. Maybe we´d have a hotel in Xela, but travel out, and live in different houses, I even heard that one of the elders brought his family back to Choqui, and they slept in the Church for a night. It would be like a backpacking trip, and really something different, and a huge culture shock for you guys.

I love you guys, look into traveling Guatemala, I think it would be sooo neat to go to all my old areas!

See ya later, Love Elder Dalton!

We did some more service this week. This was a first for me, we helped make mulch (Abono) and we helped form it into a giant mound so it could soak up the sun and get nice and mulchy.

I’m not really sure what this mulch is made out of, but I think it’s better that I didn´t know, ha-ha In this picture, her son Marvin is working with me. Also, I would love to come back with Verlon and do a ward service mission, that would be so awesome! Guatemala is so amazing and there is so much service we could do here, as long as you´re safe and make good decisions you´ll be safe here.

In this picture, I’m standing next to Hermana Francisca, she is the same widow that we helped carry water for. She is so nice, and this Sunday, she was actually reactivated! After almost not coming to Church for a year, we have helped her and her family returns to be active members, I am sooooo happy for them! All they really needed was a friend, and an extra hand, to feel the love a Christ again, the same love they felt when they were baptized.

This is a nice house in choqui

If you look close you can see the cahpel of Paxajtup on top of this Cliff, it’s really cool.

As we traveled to San Bartolo the other day, we had the opportunity to load the truck with a bunch of wood, and then we unloaded it down below in the pueblo. Always opportunities to serve...

What I´ve learned throughout my 20 years of living, and in the mish, is that usually true service comes in really inconvenient moments. But that is what makes it so great, even when you are busy with something that you might deem really important, you are given the opportunity to sacrifice, and help someone else out. When good old service comes knocking on your door, don’t hesitate to open it right up. You´ll make someone´s day, and yours as well.
I went to momos this week on divisions with Elder Snow- the ZL there. Because my comp had to go to HueHue for a baptism of an old investigator he had. Anyways, it was really fun, and I took a few pictures-

Here is a picture of a squirell skin, haha yes, they love to eat Squirell here in Momos, and all they gotta do is shoot it out of their backyard and cook it up!

We passed through a Guatemalan Graveyard as I was in Momostenango on divisions. These Graveyards are unreal different. The graves are all above ground, painted bright colors, and adorned with candles and flowers

Not a place I´d like to be at night!

Along the sides of these cliffs, are wild raspberries and blackberries! All the little kids pick and eat them as they walk to and from school. I also have eaten my fair share, they´re super delicious and remind me of picking the berries in Verlon´s garden.

The sky does weird, really cool things here. This was a shadow cast on the sky from a giant cloud, but to me, it just looks so coool!

CORTE!!!!!!!!!!

I´m going to make a backpack out of this stuff, and it is going to be sooooo sweet!
