Share the Gospel

We had another campire and roasted marshmellows this week! Its one of the best ways to have a cheap, easy, awesome activity here.

The activity was originally meant for one family and some investigators, but once somebody hears the words "comida gratis".... Free Food, the whole village comes running to join.

I don’t mind though, It makes me happy to share with everyone. Look how happy this simple activity made these people!! They can´t stop smiling, ha-ha, and Latin people hardly ever smile in photos ;)

It´s amazing the happiness that one marshmellow stuffed between two chocolate cookies can bring.

Hermano Casimiro, and his two kids.

Mi querido familia,                                                                              March 4, 2014
gracias por ser tan amables y dando todo de su apoyo a mi y la obra misional.
The mission truly takes you on a rollercoaster ride of emotions, achievements, and trials. But, for me, it’s a ride I never want to get off. I have never been surer before now, that I have found the purpose of life. And that´s being happy in the True Gospel of Jesus Christ, and sharing that happiness with everyone around you. What am I doing as a missionary?! Exactly that!
This week was fairly normal, we did a lot of searching for new investigators, and we searched all over the mountain, even in the hidden houses at the bottom of the cliffs. my area is so beautiful and so different, that when you go exploring, you never really know where you´re going to end up. This week while searching the houses at the bottom of the cliffs, we found even deeper cliffs, inside of the deep cliffs, it was really sweet!
We also are having success with one investigator in aldea Patulup! She has come to church two times in a row, and is progressing rapidly. I am so happy for her, we are planning on putting the fecha for April 5th, and if all things go well, She will be baptized!!! As we move closer and closer to a baptism, there is always a challenge that appears- Satan is cunning, and works hard to wreck any chance of a baptism, but nothing is impossible to defeat when you are fighting on God´s team, because he gives you ultimate strength, ultimate endurance, and the ultimate spirit to give all you got to help his Children return to him.
But, something that I think we all need to remember is that Baptism, is only the first fruit of repentance, once we are baptized we have only entered the path of righteousness. If we want to return to our Heavenly Father some day we need to continue to keep the commandments and laws and the church, and step by step we will reach his kingdom.
Family, Friends, Ward Members, whoever you are- You are all very important to me. And I think its important that you all know and understand, that you have a Heavenly Father who loves you. He knows you, He hears you, and He watches over you. He wants more than anything that you could return to live with him one day, because you are His child, and just like every father should love his children, He loves you!
This is the message that I am sharing for two years in Guatemala. When you have a problem in life, when you confront challenges and difficulties, when you feel like there is nothing in life that matters... Please know... that YOU matter. Please know, that you matter to Him. He shares all you tears and hurt; He joins in all your laughs and smiles. You are important to Him-
That´s all I desire, as a missionary, and a person... that you all can know that you really do matter, you have a purpose in life, and that purpose is to prepare now to live with Him that loves you more than anyone else.
There is only one way to return to our Heavenly Father, and that is through making and keeping sacred covenants and commandments in the only true church of God. And that church is "The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints". There is no other way, and it would make me so sad to know that I have family members, friends, neighbors, and people all over the world, who right now just don´t know- the way. If you don´t know yet, there will come an opportunity to find out for yourself, just promise me, when that moment arrives- you won´t overlook it.
Sé que con toda mi corazón que la Iglesia de JesuCristo De los Santos de los Últimos Días es la iglesia verdadera. Y sé que es el unico camino a regresar a nuestro Padre Celestial. (please translate this on the blog)
If you have found the True Gospel, pleas share it, please open your mouth and give the greatest gift you could ever give, the restored gospel of Jesus Christ. Maybe you have a brother, an Aunt, an Uncle, a Friend, an Employee, a Roommate, your wife or husband- whoever it may be- share with them the greatest gift of all. Wherever you are in the world, open up your mouth, and share the gospel.

85 Neither take  ye thought beforehand what ye shall say; but treasure up in your minds continually the words of life, and it shall be given you in the very hour that portion that shall be meted unto every man.

We helped the Bishop in Patulup in his garden. He is growing 10,000 trees called the Guama, supposedly the leaves of this tree are really good for the soil, and can transform really bad farmland into rich healthy soil. OVER 10,000 Trees!!!

This week in Choqui, we had a huge branch activity. We thought up the whole thing, me and my comp. We had a huge scavenger hunt... my idea, and it was sooo awesome. Super funny to watch all the old corte ladies running around searching for clues. After we had games in the basketball court. We had races while balancing oranges on a spoon. It was super funny to watch! And we handed out a bunch of candy. The whole activity cost about 10 dollars, which is worth all the fun we gave these people.

This kid was so concentrated on not letting his orange fall!! haha ;)

This week we learned how to make, Carbón, which Im pretty sure is like charcoal in English. It was really messy and really awesome. You learn how to do something new every day in Choqui!

We pile up a bunch a freshly chopped wood, and then cover it with a bunch of tall grass, then you burry it with earth, and then in the front, you set it on fire! and after a couple hours you have the finished product.

This is how dirty I was after we made the Carbón. And to think I was wearing pants, and still got this dirty...
