Super Pilas!

This week, an Elder got to enter the temple to be present in the sealing of a family he baptized a year ago, so his comp. got sent with me and e. muse in a trio, and guess who the elder is.... Elder Rivera, ha-ha, so I got to be in a trio for a couple hours with elder Rivera again.

Turns out that E. Muse was also comps with him.

Anyways, this week was super busy. This Friday we had back to back super important activities with super positve investigators. Sofia, the 11 year old who was going to be baptized this coming saturday, her baptism is now on hold. But, we hope to have her baptismal date back on in the coming week. We also have two super positve investigators, Elsi and Sylvia.

Elsi and Sylvia are great friends of some members from the ward, and they have come to church three weeks in a row, super pilas!!!! Anyways, working with them and the members has shown me how simple sharing the gosple can be, and honestly all it takes is the time and effort to be a real friend, and if you think about it... it doesn`t take hardly any effort to be a true friend to someone else. Having the support of the members has helped them progress extremely fast.

We have been visiting many members lately, and sharing with them the story of Ammon from the Book of Mormon. As we read about Ammon, we learn that before drowning our friends and acquaintances with messages of the gospel, we must first serve them. "I will be thy servant" (see Alma 17:25) There are many ways we can serve others, whether it be a service project like painting a house, raking leaves or taking out the trash, or even inviting someone over to dinner and play games or to a family home evening. Just sitting down, being a friend and truly listening to someone is also a great act of service.

As we serve, others feel and see our love, they see us as real friends. And as we serve others, who else will we be serving?? Mosiah, 2:17 "And behold, I tell you these things that ye may learn wisdom; that ye may learn that when ye are in the service of your fellow beings ye are only in the service of your God."

So with all this being said, I would like to invite all who read this (family, friends, people who could be friends but I haven`t met you yet, all of you) Close your eyes for 1 minute, and picture all those around you whom you can serve. I promise as you do so, with a desire to know, you will think of many people. It will surprise you how many people there are that just need somebody to talk to. Okay, After having done so, I now invite you to write down the names of everyone you imagined. Now, pray. Pray to know which of these names needs your service at this time. Okay, great, now that you have prayed think of how and when you are going to serve this person. Make a plan to go and do so. Perfect, now... go out and do it!

As we serve others it opens many opportunities to share the gospel with others, and if the people down here in Guatemala are being super pilas (awesome) then you guys should be able to do it as well, ha-ha ; )

Oh, also today is Independence Day in Guatemala.... Yeah, what a fiesta.... We celebrated by going to a parade that passed through our zone. The parades aren`t as exciting as those in Centerville and bountiful, but tons of people come.

We went as a zone, and crammed ourselves against a wall. Being tall, I got to see everything, ha-ha, but the short elders and hermanas hardly saw anything, perks for being tall... Elder Halling

The streets are packed, people climb to the roofs and even in the middle of the road there is a huge line of people.

The only people that pass, are a bunch of jr. highs and high schools and the bands from the high school. This girl with the feathers was about the most interesting person that passed by, ha-ha but it was super fun,

In one of our other crazy activities this past Friday, we made root beer floats, mmmmm que rico!!! But, turns out everyone in Guatemala thinks root beer is really gross.... I`ve been told that they think it tastes like Vicks cough medicine, pepto, mints, and the best of all, Carne... (Meat) I`m trying really hard to imagine how root beer would ever tast like meat... ha-ha.

This is Elder Pace, he comes from Cali, he was a receiver on the BYU football team.... and even though he´s got some bitter cougar blood, he´s a great Elder.

DA FAM, Glad to here things are swell back home. Yáll look good in them AGGIE shirts, lessss goooo! Also, nice hipster glasses dad, lookin good.
