A Great P Day!

We went hiking today, and it was pretty sweet. We went to a mountain called the Muela, its like an old exploded volcano. Everything went great, it’s was way fun, no one got hurt, except for one Hermana who almost fell down a pit of doom... aka.. 100 ft. drop off, but other than that we made it out ok, and it was really fun.

Garibaldi Companionship foto that we took on the mountain. Elder Browning doesn´t leave till tomorrow, so we are now in a trio for one day, Me, Elder Browning, and Elder Muse from Ogden Utah, and las Misioneras, Ellas son la Hermana Woods, y su hija Hermana Gibson.

More pics from the top of La Muela

Many people in Guatemala like to write friendly messages and scripture references on the volcanic rocks, this one says "Jesus Lives", well that’s true :) He does live.

If you look well at this picture, you can see groups of people who have climbed up on high rocks, and cliff sides, surrounded by flowers; they are worshipping and praying on the rocks.

In the valley down below in this picture, can´t you imagine some ancient Lamanite city being there. Think of all the ancient history that this country really has, its sooo awesome!!

I took this pic from up above, like I have already mentioned, as you hike up this mountain, you listen to the wails, and moaning, of the worshipping corte people. Look at that giant rock that the corte women climbed up. From above they look like little dolls, it was just something out of this world and very interesting to observe.
This is a pic of an Israel flag that was posted on the top of the mountain; many people had painted messages on rocks and trees, saying "this is the door to heaven", "place of holy worship", and many other things.

From la Muela we had a great view of beautiful Volcán Santa Maria
Out in the distance, behind these 2 green hills that you can see the mountain drops, and the land becomes flat, and leads out into the coast.

So this mountain sits right next to the volcano, but it’s different than the volcano. It’s about a 30 minute drive away from Garibaldi, and then it’s a hike up to these old volcanic rocks, and because we are in Guatemala, all the way up, there are lots of people worshiping idols, and chanting, praying, moaning, and yelling. It was one of the most interesting hikes I have ever been on in my life

More Rituals, and a cool Guatemalan flag pic.

Coming back to the mountains reminded me of my old areas in the mountains... As much as I love the city, and the city benefits...fast food, nice toilets, cold drinks, electricity, ha-ha- I miss the mountains, I miss the peace and quiet up there, I miss the humility, and I miss the people from Quilinco. As we watched the clouds roll through the mountains it made me a little baggy for Quilinco, ha-ha.

And I have even more pics from all the people worshipping and chanting, but my camera just died, and the charger is back in the house, so I´ll have to give you them next week. It was really fun, except for when Hermana Crystal almost fell into a pit of doom, that was nerve racking, but it really was a great P-day, Guatemala is beautiful, and a very interesting country. My new comp seems like a nice guy, way different from Elder Browning, but for sure a nice guy, anyways, thanks for all you do, and I´ll send you more pics the next week.
