Today we were hit by an earthquake!!!!

Today we were hit by an earthquake!!!! Que Loco verdad!? The funny thing though, is other missionaries from the mission, when they felt the quake today at 5:30, they got up out of their beds quickly and headed to find a door frame to stand under. I was so tired, comfortable, and warm and snuggly, that when I felt my bed start to rock back and forth, it just relaxed me even more, and when the whole house started to shake, I was like, "wow, this is neat", and the whole house rumbled and shook for about two minutes, I went back to be, and woke up at 6:30 like nothing happened, ha-ha. The only things that fell in the house were, shampoo, and the marker on our whiteboard, everything else.... super tranquillo. Ya the quake was really big, but didn’t do any damage in Xela. We just got to feel everything shake like crazy, and it was a really cool experience.

The corn is growing and growing and growing- it’s gonna be a good tortilla year.

I received your package last week, Thanks! That was really nice, I also heard I have another one in the office. Who keeps on sending me things, how thoughtful, haha, I like to share a lot of my American food with the Guat. kids, cause they have never had the opportunity to try something like it before. Also, Thanks sister Gordon, for your extremely thoughtful cards, I always get so excited when I get one from you, thanks for being such a great mentor, example, and friend.
p.s. I shared one of the samoa cookies with my comp, because they were so delicious, and I ate a whole pack myself in one night, ha-ha.

This week, we celebrated the 4th of July just like you all probably did. We have an investigator whose birthday also happens to be the fourth of July, so Elder Browning cooked burgers for the whole family, and I cooked platano frito, which is basically fried bannana, and its sooooo good! Better than french fries. They are a family of 5, and they are our really good friends, they are super attatched to their religion, and sometimes it’s difficult to find time to teach them, but just being their true friends has really helped them feel a love from the Church. They had a lot of fun sharing this special independance day with us. ;)

Me, Elder Browning, Hermana Woods, and Hermana Sonya- She is the mom of the family, she is from El Salvador and she makes delicious el salvadoranio food, called pupusas.... mmmmmm, rico. We always buy food from here, when her little restaurant/food stand is open. And that’s how we met her and her family as well. We had always walked by her food stand many nights in a row, and I always had the feeling that we needed to talk to her, and one day, I chose to do right, and we started talking and now her and her family are investigators, and our really good friends.

This is Hermana Sonya, and Her Daughter Raquel. Raquel´s cumpleaños is the 4th of July. Also, I don’t think I ever mentioned I wrote a song about the street food that hermana Sonya sells. It was super funny.

me, my comp, and Hermana Aguirre, La Mexicana, ;)

Las Hermanas misioneras

I love my Heavenly Father,  so I am willing to do everything I can to keep his commandments: to pray daily, to read my scriptures, to have family night, to go to church, to partake of the sacrament worthily, to pay my tithing, to love one another and to complete everything he asks me to do- because I truly love him and I know you all love him as well.
With all my Gratitude, Elder Dalton
