Things that really matter

This week, we went to visit the temple with the family of Sister Josephine, Charles, and Yonathan. Sister Josephine and her grandson, Yonathan, are members of the church. Yonathan is the same age and Tanner is learning that yes, it is true, we will receive many blessings while we maintain our dignity as Priesthood holders. Brother Charles is not a member of the church, in fact, he is a very good person, but has a wall of pride blocking his view of the simple, true things. Sometimes we as church members, we have this same blind eye that prevents us from seeing things that really matter. Maybe it's the work that blinds us, Sometimes the money we earn, maybe college, maybe they are video games and sports, I do not know, there are many things that happen in this world that keeps us from seeing that most of all, what God tells us, this should be more important than anything else.

Yonathan shared a speech this past Sunday. He is a very exemplary boy, only twelve. he knows that his great great grandfather today will not have a change of heart, but Yonathan can see that small things will continue helping his great great grandfather until one day, yes, Grandpa will have a big change of heart.

This last week was the birthday of Henry, the investigator who was baptized a few weeks ago. Nobody knew it was his birthday until one of his friends saw it on Facebook, and told us. he was very very happy to see the cake we made for him. It was a cake made of (Rice Crispies)

I also have a few things that I´d like to share with you guys this week about what I’ve been reading and learning in my personal study.

I am translating this from Spanish to English, it may not be word for word.

I love what the scriptures say, in Mosiah, 2:22, " And behold, all that he requires of you is to keep his commandments; and he has promised you that if ye would keep his commandments ye should prosper in the land; and he never doth vary from that which he hath said; therefore, if ye do keep his commandments he doth bless you and prosper you. "

I love that it says that "he never doth vary from that which he hath said", this promise will always remain the same, If we are obedient we will receive blessings.

Perhaps we already feel very blessed... could it be that God has even greater blessings in store for us, that we haven´t experienced yet. In a quote from Elder Michael John U. Teh he explains... “Our Heavenly Father sees our real potential. He knows things about us that we do not know ourselves. He prompts us during our lifetime to fulfill the measure of our creation, to live a good life, and to return to His presence.

God wants us to reach our full potential- our potential is unimaginable. We can reach our full potential by receiving all of the blessing that God has prepared for us. But he can´t give us everything he has to give, if we can´t simple be obedient. He wants to "open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing , that there shall not be room enough to receive it." Malachi, 3:10

I know as we strive to be obediant we will receive the blessings our Heavenly Father has waiting in store for us. I know that sometimes it seems dificult to be obedient..... well, it is. Sometimes God asks dificult things (see 1 Nefi, 3: 5 And now, behold thy brothers murmur, saying it is a hard thing which I have required of them; but behold I have not required it of them, but it is a commandment of the Lord.) And, it was never spoken more simply and beautifully than it is written in John, 14:5,  "If ye love me, keep my commandments ."

Hope all is well there in Utah. I was glad to read your letters and hear about all of your successes and triumphs.  I have a very wonderful family!

 Love you,

your son, Elder Erik Dalton

Perhaps you are wondering why I sent a photo of a Mexican piƱata that looks like a giraffe. Well, it's two sister missionaries in our area go home because they will end their missions. One is from Mexico, and the other is very tall and thin and looks like a giraffe, that's why.
It is a representation of Sister Janssen.

Well, I hope you can read my Spanish. When you use (Google Translate) just know that it does not know when to put ... You, She, or He, the machine is not so smart.
There are errors but not my fault.
