Hey, everybody!! E. Dalt. sendin his luv from Guatemala. I’m glad to hear you guys are having a lot of fun this Summer. Keep bringin my cutout places, I can’t wait to see all the pics when I get home. This week was so fast, and a lot better than other weeks. I am on week 6 in the field, ahhhhhh! I can’t even believe it!
Anyways this week was really good for me and my comp. Again I focused on being positive this whole week, and I can’t tell you how great the importance of attitude and the affect it has on you physically, mentally, and spiritully. Arnaldo our investigator is still progressing and he is basically a member, he comes to church every week, we just need to get him really committed. Our goal is to have him go visit the temple with all of Quelinco and Chiantla on the 24th, and have him baptized the next week on the 31st. Pray for Arnaldo! He´s such a sick kid. He is seventeen like Aaron, and he is super chill.
This week we played soccer in the Cancha in Quilinco with the members and less actives, and later in the day we talked with like all the teenagers of Quilinco. We had a great time and we are all going to play soccer next Saturday. I hope we can have some success from these activities and baptize some families. My English classes also start this Saturday, and I’m a little nervous, but really excited. A lot of people are really interested in these Gratis (free) classes, because it costs so much here for someone to learn English in a school. I hope I can help them out a lot, and hopefully this service will help us find new investigators who are ready and prepared to listen to nuestro mensajes.
Today, we went to this sick laguna, called Laguna Magdalena_ look it up on google earth_ I have never been to a place as beautiful as this Laguna. It was like something off of an episode of Planet Earth, soooooo beautiful! There was also behind the Lagoon an over 200 foot waterfall! I got to stand on top of a 200 hundred foot waterfall!!!! Who gets the chance to do something like tha!. and my When you see this type of beauty in the earth, It’s just another sign that we have a God. It was a once in a life time experience, pictures I will try and send are not going to do it justice. I have never seen something more beautiful with my own eyes.
I learned from a member in Chiantla that I live in the tallest mountians in Centra l America. I think she might be right, because they just keep going up, up, up, up, into the clouds, and up some more. Crazyish right? I am going to try to send some pictures later if I can, so don’t worry you´ll get the chance to see some of my adventures in Guatemala.
Today, my comp and some other elders asked me to say a prayer in English. Ahhhhh! Im losing my Enlgish haha. I am so used to saying some words in Spanish now it is completely natural for me. It is going to be hard to speak English when I come home in two years..... 21 months left on august 29th! I am so grateful for this wonderful opportunity. I have the chance to be a servant in the Lords hands and change people lives. I can show people the way to true happiness. There is nothing, nothing greater than this wonderful opportunity. When you feel your worst remember why you’re here, what you can accomplish if you can continue, and also think of how blessed you are to have been born for one, in the United States, have a family, a house, a job, a wife, kids, the knowledge of something more than this world. I have no idea why I have been soooooo blessed in my life. I have opportunities handed to me every day. The least I can do is give myself to the people of Guatemala, give myself to my Savior, give myself to my Lord, and be an instrument in his hands to share the brilliant truth of his gospel. I don’t deserve this great of a life, all I want to do is repay all my blessings by giving of much of myself and of much of the love I have to give, as I can to others.
Love you guys, pray always, be safe, and YOLO!!!
luvvvvvv Elder Dalton!!!
Oh i almost forgot! I got a package from Sister Gordan with english hymns from the DI, please tell her thank you so much and that she has been such a great influence in my life. I sing for all our investigadors, and they like when I sing both in spanish and english, so the hymns are awesome!!
Hey, Guys!
August 5, 2013
Some important things first off...
1. I got the packages! Thankyou, haha the pringles were eaten in three days, a can a day! Also tell grandma and cherie thankyou also.l I liked seeing all the Jesus stickers all over the packages, haha. If you guys are going to send another, and if you haven’t already, I don’t need clothes, cause clothes are sooooo cheap here and I have time to comprar cosas mientras in Hue Hue durante mi P-days. What I need is Contact solution, probably better to have you send it now, because I can’t by it here in hue hue or anywhere close. I think the only place I can get it is at the walmart in Xela, and I won’t be going there for a while and don’t know if I will be close to a walmart. Thankyou!
2. The CD. is on Itunes! Thats so cool! if you send the CD, also send a jump drive with the music on it, there are these cool music things here where you just plug in a jump drive with songs and they play the music.
3. I bought this cool fabric today called corta, and missionaries pay this lady to make sick ties out of this stuff, Im going to try and send you a tie one of these days hopefully.
The mission is going really well at the moment. This week I made a goal to smile more and be happy all week. And, I found that when I maintain a good attitude I am more sensitive to the spirit and am able to find more people to teach. A lot lately I’ve had impressions to knock on random doors, or start talking to some random people in the street, and it turns out each time I do this these people are actually interested and have questions. I feel really good about this one big family, and hopefully when we start teaching them they feel the spirit and realize the truth of our message.
We have 2 people with babtismal fechas, (dates) this week, and I really think we can get them babtized. The goal in our zone is to have 24 babtisms este mes, I really think we can do this, other areas have a lot of babhtisms stet for this month. One of our inestigadores es Arnoldo, El is un buen buen joven. El tiene 17 anos y (comes to church every sunday, He is basically a member) We just need him to actually commit he has had babtism dates for like the past two months, we just need to get him in the water, haha!
The other guy is called Alvino, he is like 50 or 60 something, and un poco loco en la cabeza. He wants to be one of jesus christs apostles and teach the gosple, haha bueno bueno. He wants to be babtized and tambien, we just need to get him in the agua.
Today while we were walking to Mcdonalds..... ya mcdonalds..... YUM. I saw elder Hilton! Elder Seth Hilton is the ambassador from usu who is in the same mission as me. I didnt recognize him, but as we were talking he said I looked familiar and we started talking about school and people we knew at utah state, and we found out we were both ambassadors, I am pretty sure he has like not much time left in his miss, another half a year, IDK. It was cool to see him.
Cool things that happened this week, I almost was eaten by a german shepard... on steroids. The family forgot to close the door and we were walking across the yard and this huge G.S. came running up to us with a mouth like a grizzly bear and I thought I was a goner, hah, but I t stopped in front of us and just kept barking, I just sat there frozen cause I’ve learned from Charlie that if you run he’s gonna want to eat you.
I was sitting in the house where we eat lunch on saturday and the lady was cooking these fried potato filled tortillas and al of a sudden the grease from the pan bubbled and splashed out and some got on my arm. I have two purple reddish marks on my arm from it, I don’t know if they are permanent, they might be... But it’s not bad, just adds to my collection of birthmarks on my left arm, haha.
This week my
language has improved so much in my understanding and I find when I randomly
start talking to people I can have conversations with them. It’s when I over
think stuff that I have a hard time. I know that I’m just going to keep
improving and I’ve learned from other elders that Peruvians are really hard to
understand, plus my papi has a lisp and so when I get a new comp in 8 weeks Ill
probs understand him better. Also the people in Quelinco have a hard time understanding
my spanish, but when I talk to people in the cities they understand me so much
better. I love Quilinco and I know Im supposed to be here for a reason, I hope
my comp can gain a better attitude. I honestly think He is tired of being in Quilinco,
and he just wants a new area, he has been here 5 months and has 2 more to go.
This is an example of my language improvement-
I’m saving money every month for emergencies and for a suitcase full of souvenirs when I get home, haha. Love you guys so much, and think of you often, I haven’t received any letters and won’t know if I have any till the next time the zone leaders are in Xela, which will be next month. I hope and pray they make it here safe.
